Ansiedad y nomofobia: ¿Por qué los estudiantes ecuatorianos no pueden dejar el móvil?

Resumen

En el siglo XXI, la salud mental es una prioridad, y la nomofobia ha emergido como un problema contemporáneo que afecta el bienestar emocional y cognitivo, especialmente cuando se restringe el acceso a dispositivos móviles. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo establecer la vinculación entre la ansiedad, la nomofobia y los estilos de uso del teléfono celular en la población universitaria ecuatoriana, incorporando variables sociodemográficas para profundizar en su rol como elementos de moderación. Se diseñó un estudio correlacional, no experimental y transversal con una muestra de 1,484 estudiantes de entre 18 y 25 años de dos universidades ecuatorianas. Los datos se recogieron digitalmente utilizando el test NMP-Q para nomofobia y la subescala de ansiedad del DASS-21, con propiedades psicométricas robustas (CFI > 0.93, α > 0.91), y fueron analizados mediante el software Rstudio. Los resultados indicaron que los estudiantes más jóvenes, mujeres y aquellos con horarios académicos intensivos mostraron niveles significativamente mayores de ansiedad, confirmándose una fuerte correlación positiva entre nomofobia y ansiedad. Estos hallazgos resaltan la necesidad de intervenciones preventivas y de apoyo destinadas a proteger el bienestar emocional de este grupo vulnerable, enfatizando la importancia de políticas y estrategias que aborden la salud mental en el contexto universitario contemporáneo.
