Resumen

La enfermedad por coronavirus 2019 (COVID – 19 por sus siglas en ingles), es la primera pandemia del siglo veinte, con una tasa de contagio y expansión mundial superior a la de la gripe Española. Varios países, sobre todo los tercer mundistas, se han visto afectados tanto sanitaria como económicamente, lo que ha generado diversos cuestionamientos a los modelos establecidos. Las diferentes medidas que se han tomado con respecto a esto, tienen profundas implicaciones, tanto en salud como en política, para la población ecuatoriana. Se analiza la situación con respecto a la enfermedad en Carchi, una provincia de la sierra del Ecuador, por sus características demográficas, sociales y económicas, para de esta manera poder tener una visión de referencia de la situación actual del país.
