Infección gastrointestinal por COVID - 19 en un paciente pediátrico

Resumen

La enfermedad por coronavirus ha sido responsable de la pandemia actual, costando más de 600 00 muertes y una recesión económica mundial. El propósito del articulo es presentar el caso de una paciente pediátrica de 5 meses, que fue atendida por un cuadro de infección gastrointestinal provocado por COVID – 19 (Coronavirus Disease 2019). Estuvo hospitalizada durante  17 días, recibió tratamiento con Nitazoxanida y alimentación enteral, tras lo cual logro superar su cuadro clínico y fue dada de alta sin ninguna complicación. Se analiza la importancia del manejo de la patología en pacientes pediátricos, las variedades terapéuticas que existen, la posible reacción cruzada entre Rotavirus y COVID – 19,  y la escasa información y guías de manejo en pacientes de este grupo etario.
