Prevalencia y factores genéticos responsables de la toxicidad farmacológica: una revisión de la literatura actual

Resumen

La toxicidad farmacológica en la actualidad representa un desafío para el sistema de salud actual, donde los factores responsables se asocian en su mayoría con alteraciones genéticas. El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar la prevalencia y factores genéticos responsables de la toxicidad farmacológica mediante una revisión sistemática documental de tipo descriptivo en base a las directrices establecidas por la guía PRISMA 2020. De 1.542 documentos, solo se utilizaron 53 artículos mediante criterios de elegibilidad. Los resultados mostraron que Turquía (64.9%) y Uganda, África (61.8%) presentan las prevalencias más altas en cuanto a la toxicidad farmacológica. Además, esta complicación se asocia directamente a factores genéticos como alteraciones en la actividad enzimática, provocando así toxicidad espontánea. Por último, el control periódico de medicamentos, la evaluación del historial farmacológico y el registro de las reacciones adversas fueron las recomendaciones más enfatizadas ante esta problemática. Se concluye que el monitoreo y evaluación mediante herramientas tecnológicas y guías validadas por organizaciones mundiales pueden mitigar el impacto de la toxicidad farmacológica.
